| Abstract | The modification of a river for a series of reservoirs provides important alterations in the aquatic environment. Among innumerable alterations, the ones related to the water reflectance (such as the color and transparency) are outstood. In this perspective, this work had the objective of identifying the influence of the construction of reservoirs in cascades on the water reflectance in the Jacuí River RS. Data of transparency (Secchi disc), solid totals in suspension, electric conductivity, pH and of reflectance of the water were collected in September - 2008 in the Passo Real and Dona Francisca reservoirs. Reflectance was identified with the use of the FieldSpec equipment for the spectral interval from 400 to 900nm. The results indicated that the all the variable of the water reveal to be different between the two reservoirs at 90% of confidence. In what competes to the first reservoir (Passo Real) the spectral characteristics of the water showed greater albedo of reflectance in the band of the red in relation to the other reservoir (Dona Francisca). Other characteristics are: a) The shift of the reflectance peak; in the Passo Real reservoir the peak was in greater wave length; b) In the Dona Francisca reservoir appeared absorption chlorophyll typical band in 675 nm; c) Continuum removal showed a significant correlation to TSS in 740 nm. The construction of reservoirs in series in the Jacuí River produced significant differences in all of the variables of the water and its reflectance. | ||||||
